This saw came out of the box almost perfectly aligned, however I like to give all of my tools a bit of tweaking, although this one probably didn’t really need it!

Specs on the Bosch CM10GD

Bosch has packed a lot of punch into this compact, transportable saw. At only 64 pounds, it is far more easily transportable than most larger saws. Having a 10” blade with a powerful 15 amp motor ensures that you’ll never run out of grunt when tackling tough projects, and the 4,000 RPM no load speed will perfectly slice your projects with ease. This particular model of miter saw hosts a special feature from Bosch – the Axial Glide System. Basically this replaces the traditional “rail systems” that are used on most miter saws. This feature makes the saw more compact, so it can be stored up against a wall, and also makes the raising and lowering of the blade easier. Another thing I love about this saw is that it caters to left and right handers, with the ambidextrous handle featuring dual triggers.

Cut Capacity and Accuracy

The Bosch has a 12” cut capacity horizontally, and will take up to 5 ½” of material vertically up against the fence. The fence on the CM10GD (amazon.com link) is particularly well engineered, which is a great feature to see on a saw such as this. The fence is a two piece fence, with one part of it being fixed and the other adjustable.

Dust Collection On The Bosch

Although Bosch states that this saw will collect 90% of the sawdust, don’t expect this if you aren’t hooked up to an extra vacuum system! I actually misread this and thought that it would suck up 90% of the dust as it comes out of the box. If you can hook up to an external vacuum though, you will definitely get close to 90% dust collection. The out of box dust collection isn’t too bad though.

What Extra Features Are Included On This Bosch?

Transparent blade guard

The blade guard on the Bosch is a great feature. It features a couple of small rollers on the guard to stop it getting in the way, and it works a treat. The plastic is actually clear too – this makes it easy to make sure your cuts are dead on. As well as this safety feature, the saw also has a powerful blade break, and a 6 foot cord to ensure you don’t have to run extension cords around a busy job site or workshop.

Custom adjustments

Bosch goes out of their way to ensure that accuracy is the number one priority. There are a multitude of dials, knobs and rulers that are all easy to operate to make sure that your cuts are perfectly square.

Front knobs for adjusting

The adjusting process on this saw is easy and quick. With knobs that you can operate with one thumb, while you manoeuvre the saw with your other hand, it is a great saw that is very intuitive to use.

Adjustable miter detents

With detents starting from 0, all the way up to 60 degrees, you won’t be battling to set your own custom adjustments. The Bosch also features large scales that are easy to read, and don’t look like they’ll easily break.

What Sort Of Warranty Does Bosch Offer?

Bosch delivers a one year warranty on this, and most of their extensive catalog of tools. Bosch have a reliable name and are regarded as one of the best tool manufacturers in the market today – and this saw is living proof of it.

What Sort Of Work Would This Saw Best Suit?

To be honest, this would suit anyone from a full time contractor, through to a D.I.Y guy or hobby woodworker. The only limitation of this saw would be if you are cutting pieces of material over 12”. However being a 10” saw, this particular miter saw would be more suited to interior work, framing, flooring or joinery applications. Make sure to check out Amazon.com’s price on the CM10GD before buying it.
