Bosch is well known in the woodworking and construction world for powerful, dependable tools.  The CM10GD Miter Saw is a welcome addition to the Bosch family, and it fits right in.

With a mixture of tried and true mechanics as well as innovative new systems, Bosch has packed a lot of punch into this compact saw.  If you’re looking for an accurate saw with cutting edge design from a reputable brand, this saw is worth considering.

Our Bosch CM10GD Review

Cut Quality

One of the most praised aspects of this miter saw is its ability to make clean, precise cuts with the power and smoothness you would expect from leading power tool makers.

This Bosch has a 12” cut capacity horizontally, and will take up to 5 ½” of material vertically up against the fence. The fence on the CM10GD is particularly well engineered, which is a great feature to see on a saw like this. The fence is a two piece fence, with one part of it being fixed and the other adjustable.

Ease of Use

This particular model of miter saw hosts a special feature from Bosch – the Axial Glide System. Basically this replaces the traditional “rail systems” that are used on most miter saws. This feature makes the saw more compact, so it can be stored up against a wall, and also makes the raising and lowering of the blade easier. Another thing to love about this saw is that it caters to left and right handed folks, with it’s ambidextrous handle featuring dual triggers.

Bosch goes out of their way to ensure that accuracy is the number one priority.  There are a multitude of easy to operate dials, knobs and rulers to ensure that your cuts are perfectly square.

The adjusting process on this saw is easy and quick. With knobs that you can operate with one thumb, while you maneuver the saw with your other hand, it is a great saw that is very intuitive to use.

With detents starting from 0, all the way up to 60 degrees, you won’t be battling to set your own custom adjustments.  The Bosch also features large scales that are easy to read, and don’t look like they’ll easily break.

The blade guard on the Bosch is a great feature. It features a couple of small rollers on the guard to stop it getting in the way, and it works well.  The plastic is actually clear too – this makes it easy to make sure your cuts are dead on.  The saw also has a powerful blade break as a built in safety feature.  And on top everything else, the CM10GD features a 6 foot cord to ensure you don’t have to run extension cords around a busy job site or workshop.

Although Bosch states that this saw will collect 90% of the sawdust, don’t expect this if you aren’t hooked up to an extra vacuum system!  It could be easy to misread this and think that it would suck up 90% of the dust as it comes out of the box.  If you do opt for an external vacuum, which is highly recommended, you will definitely get close to 90% dust collection.  The out of box dust collection isn’t too bad if you don’t start out with expectations of 90% effectiveness.

At only 60 pounds, it is more easily transportable than many larger saws in its class.

Durability

Having a 10” blade with a powerful 15 amp motor ensures that you’ll never run out of grunt when tackling tough projects.  The 4,000 RPM no load speed will slice whatever you need with perfect ease.  There’s no doubt, the Bosch CM10GD is a workhorse that will keep on working.

Service

Bosch has authorized service centers located all across the United States.  Because there are multiple service centers in multiple cities in each state, finding a mechanic is no problem.

Bosch delivers a one year warranty on this, and most of their extensive catalog of tools.  The Bosch brand has a history of being reliable and are regarded as one of the best tool manufacturers in the market todaythis saw is living proof of that.

Included in the box:

  • 60t Carbide tipped blade
  • Material clamp
  • Dust bag
  • Wrench
  • Vacuum adapter/elbow

Overall Value

The pros of this miter saw greatly outweigh the cons.  Users love the extremely smooth and powerful cuts as well as the large cutting capacity in which these cuts can be made.  The saw is accurate and lightweight without sacrificing durability.  Another appreciated aspect of this saw is the potential for excellent dust collection.

This miter saw has received some minor constructive criticism for its lack of a laser, extensions, and soft start motor.  A small percentage of reviewers have reported issues with the glide system, resulting in less than satisfactory cuts.  However, this complaint seems to be an outlier.  In the event of a manufacturing problem, Bosch is the kind of company you can expect to handle issues efficiently with professionalism.

Our Verdict

The Bosch CM10GD would suit anyone from a full time contractor, through to a D.I.Y guy or hobby woodworker. The only limitation of this saw would be if you are cutting pieces of material over 12”. However being a 10” saw, this particular miter saw would be more suited to interior work, framing, flooring or joinery applications.  See what questions shoppers have about this saw.
