With all the models and brands to choose from, finding a good double bevel saw can be a somewhat tricky affair for even the most seasoned DIYer/handyman. Depending on your needs and desires, there are literally tens if not hundreds to choose from.

Having heard the reviews about the Bosch 5312 ( link), I decided to check it out for myself and see if it is worth the money. Truth be said, I was impressed. If you are looking for precision and top performance on your projects, then you need to get yourself the Bosch 5312.

The superior packaging only made it more exciting for me to want to open it and set it up and get down to work. Barring any unique mistakes, you should find the following components in the box:

One 12 inch dual Bevel miter saw

  • One blade
  • One wrench set
  • One clamp
  • One dust bag

What really makes the Bosch 5312 stand out

There is a host of features that really make Bosch a unique and top quality tool and these are just a few of things that really stood out for me.

Power and versatility

The Bosch 5312 has a large 25 – 1/2 inch base that will offer you power and versatility which cannot be compared with most saws on the market today. Moreover, it is powered by a 15 Amp motor which can accommodate a different range of material sizes.

Its large 25 – ½ base with an in-built cast sliding extensions allows it to support a total of 40 inches in length which is in addition to its 4 – ½ inch speed track sliding fences which allow for easy bevel set ups and added crown molding cutting proficiency.

The saw also comes complete with an electric brake and a 60 tooth, thin-kerf, carbide tipped blade for more accurate cuts.

Easy settings for more precision

Thanks to its large 25 – ½ base, the Bosch 5312 will give you a number of easy adjustments that are guaranteed to deliver accuracy and dependability for you when working on your projects.

This saw has an upfront bevel lock lever and a range selector knob that are easy to reach for fast and precise bevel settings. This is in addition to the visible bevel and miter scales and miter detent override for easy and fast angle setting. The Bosch 5312 offers stops and detents at 0, 33.9 and 45 degrees on either direction.

Multiple detents for more accurate angles

With this saw, you will get a unique wedge and slot miter detent system that will guarantee you consistent and accurate miter angles. The miter angle range has 52 degree on the left and 60 degrees on the right. Miter detents on the left show up at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 on either side and only 60 degrees on the right. Bevel detents are at 31.6 and 33.9 degrees. These bevel angles will guarantee you fast and precise angle cuts.

The cons

Yes, though I know you were hoping there would not be any drawbacks, there are two. The first is the price. This saw does not come cheap and the price could somewhat turn you off. However, for the quality it offers, it worth it.

The second is the warranty. I was at least hoping for a 3 year warranty for such a price, however, the manufacturer’s only offer one.

Warranty and after sales service

The Bosch 5312 comes with a manufacturer’s one year limited warranty.

To wrap it all up, I would say the Bosch 5312 is an above average and reliable quality performing tool. If you are looking for precision and top quality, then this is the way to go. So why not give it a try for yourself and see if it meets your expectations. Check out’s price on this miter saw.
