Our Bosch 5312 Review

Cut Quality

There are a host of features that make this Bosch miter saw a unique and top quality tool, these are just a few of the things that really stand out.  For starters, the Bosch 5312 has a large 25–1/2 inch base that will offer you power and versatility which cannot be compared with most saws on the market today.  Moreover, it is powered by a 15 Amp motor which can accommodate a different range of material sizes.

Its large 25–1/2 base with an in-built cast sliding extensions allows it to support a total of 40 inches in length which is in addition to its 4–1/2 inch speed track sliding fences which allow for easy bevel set ups and added crown molding cutting proficiency.

With this saw, you will get a unique wedge and slot miter detent system that will guarantee you consistent and accurate miter angles.  The miter angle range has 52 degree on the left and 60 degrees on the right.  Miter detents on the left show up at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 on either side and only 60 degrees on the right.  Bevel detents are at 31.6 and 33.9 degrees.  These bevel angles will guarantee you fast and precise angle cuts.

The saw also comes complete with an electric brake and a 60 tooth, thin-kerf, carbide tipped blade for more accurate cuts.

Ease of Use

Thanks to its large 25–1/2 base, the Bosch 5312 will give you a number of easy adjustments that are guaranteed to deliver accuracy and dependability for you when working on your projects.

This saw has an upfront bevel lock lever and a range selector knob that are easy to reach for fast and precise bevel settings.  This is in addition to the visible bevel and miter scales and miter detent override for easy and fast angle setting.  The Bosch 5312 offers stops and detents at 0, 33.9 and 45 degrees on either direction.

Durability

The Bosch 5312 was engineered for a long lifespan.  One of the reasons craftsmen love the Bosch brand so much is consistent dependability.  Like many of the Bosch miter saws that have come before it, the 5312 is made to last.

Service

The Bosch 5312 comes with a manufacturer’s one year limited warranty.  With authorized service centers all over the United States, repairs and service are easy.

Included in the box:

  • One blade
  • One wrench set
  • One clamp
  • One dust bag

Overall Value

When it comes to power tools (or anything for that matter) there are generally going to be some drawbacks, with the 5312 there are two main drawbacks.  The first is the price.  This saw does not come cheap and the price is a deterrent for some folks.  However, for the quality it offers, in many ways it’s worth it.

The second is the warranty.  Optimistic buyers might hope for a 3 year warranty to come with such a price-tag, however, the manufacturer’s only offer a one year warranty.

Our Verdict

To wrap it all up, the Bosch 5312 is an above average and reliable quality performing tool.  If you are looking for precision and top quality, then this is certainly one way to go.  So why not give it a try for yourself and see if it meets your expectations.  If you are considering making a purchase, take a look at Amazon’s price on the Bosch 5312.  Or compare it against the best saws on the market with our comparison chart.
