Our Makita XSL06Z Review
Cut Quality
The Makita XSL06Z was made to produce smooth, precise cuts as conveniently as possible. It’s able to do so partially because of it’s 2-steel rail sliding system design. On top of enhancing accuracy, this sliding design saves space. One aspect of this miter saw lending itself to versatility is it’s large cutting capacity. The vertical cutting capacity of the XSL06Z is 5-1/4″. It’s crown molding cut capacity is 6-5/8″ (nested). Both of these impressive cut ranges can compete with the top competition. The XSL06Z has a wide miter range of 0° to 60° (left and right) with positive stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 31.6°, 45° and 60°. As well as a bevel range of 0° to 48° (left and right).
Ease of Use
The XSL06Z was designed for convenience and accuracy. As part of Makita’s DXT® line, described by Makita as “a series of features that give Makita miter saws more cutting capacity and out-of-the-box accuracy for superior cutting performance”, it does just that. Many satisfied owners have confirmed this saw’s out-of-box accuracy.
This is not a very portable saw, as it weighs over 60 lbs. Although the 2-steel rail sliding system design is a space saver, it’s still a relatively big piece of equipment. For many users, this heft provides confidence in the sturdy performance that people want out of a saw like this. Also, at the end of the day, the XSL06Z is smaller and lighter than many of it’s competitors.
The major convenience of this miter saw comes from the two LXT® batteries. This LXT® technology offers power, speed and maximum run time all without being tied to the wall.
